At Ronald McDonald House South Island we aim to provide an environment to aid all types of healing. For families often it is from shared experience that they derive the greatest strength. It is also important that the whole family stays well and healthy, and so the Family Dinner Programme has been devised - providing healthy, stress-free meals while encouraging families to open up and spend time with others. Your company, group or organisation can help families heal by volunteering for the Family Dinner Programme.
How does it work?
All sorts of groups join in the Dinner Programme, from school children to service groups and corporate management teams. It's a great team-building exercise and a wonderful way to help.
Families are keen to hear news and discuss 'normal' activities apart from the hospital and the health of their child, so try to mingle.
Following dinner, we ask you to leave the kitchen and dining area clean and tidy so everyone can go home with a wonderful 'warm fuzzie'.
Our thanks goes to the following groups and organisations for their involvement in our Family Dinner Programme:
Caring Cookies from Housing NZ, Lyttelton Port Company, National Bank Colombo St, National Bank Sydenham, NZI, City Seafoods, Lincoln Hospitality, Signature Travel, McDonald's Ashburton, Telecom, Christs College, Canon, The Roast Chicken Dinner Ladies, Duncan Cotterill and Assoc, Rangiora Lions Club, OfficeMax, Riccarton Lions Club, Westpac New Brighton, Westpac Transactions, Tait Electronics, Soroptimist Group, Christchurch Central Rotoract, Papanui Baptist Group, Lions Club of Christchurch Chinese, Anne Stock and Friends.
